Green Fig Resort, St. Lucia
Why I Chose Green Fig
I had a hard time deciding where to stay in Saint Lucia! But ultimately, I picked Green Fig Resort & Spa, a small boutique hotel in Soufrière, because of its location (walking distance into town), on-site restaurant, easy taxi/ trip booking via WhatsApp, and THOSE VIEWS! The property has incredible views of both Soufrière town and Petit Piton and I spent most of my time there just staring out into the distance. It has open-air treehouse vibes which I really enjoyed.
They served a welcome punch upon arrival, which you can have with or without rum. My rum days are over, so I got the non-alcoholic version which was tasty. Apparently the alcoholic version is STRONG, according to my new drunk friends I met at the pool.

Dining at Green Fig
One of the biggest perks of staying at Green Fig is the excellent on-site restaurant, Saltfish. I didn’t have a rental car so this was one of the main draws to the place. This open-air spot has the same incredible views as the rest of the property and is worth a visit even if you’re not staying overnight.
A continental breakfast is included with your hotel stay, and it is massive — eggs, toast, meat and cheese, various pastries like banana bread or croissants, fruit (not pictured… because I don’t eat fruit EEK), and coffee/ tea. You can pay extra for fancier breakfast dishes or just order extra items a la carte, like bacon or smoothies.
I ordered some exceptional fish tacos for lunch at the pool, where I dined with some other tourists and bonded with them over shots (I took water, they took tequila).
I had a nice sunset dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed my salmon with garlic sauce. Onion, the bartender, had been trying to get me to try some of his drinks all weekend so I finally caved and ordered a beverage from him… he really nailed that Shirley Temple. Dinner reservations for Saltfish are usually recommended, though it was pretty empty when I dined during low season.
If you’re sick of the food at Saltfish, you can walk into town in under 10 minutes and get dinner at one of the many local restaurants. I walked to Seashell Beach Restaurant one night to meet up with friends I had met earlier in the week at Body Holiday. There’s also Orlando’s nearby, which gets rave reviews.
Rooms
The property has STAIRS, which I just considered nice free training for my Gros Piton hike. The staff can help carry your bag to and from your room. If stairs aren’t your thing, it’s wise to book a room near the restaurant/ bar area.
I booked the cheapest room available that had a balcony, which happened to be a 2 bedroom suite with a living room. Neither bedrooms had doors, which was fine by me since I was solo traveling, but could be interesting if you’re traveling with others. My bed had an incredible view of Petit Piton (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). I left my window curtain open just so I could wake up and see it first thing in the morning.
I didn’t end up hanging out on my balcony, partly because of the mosquitos and partly because the view from my bed was just so nice! I checked out one of the Bali rooms and they looked really nice.
Amenities
POOLS POOLS POOLS. Green Fig has three pools: one at the main restaurant/ bar area, one tucked away behind one of the accommodations, and another one lower on the property that was under construction when I stayed. I visited at the beginning of low season so there was barely anyone at the pool each day. The pools overlook Soufrière and Petit Piton.
One of the best perks of staying here was being able to book all your tours and taxis via their WhatsApp. I arranged taxis to Treetop Restaurant (see my full Treetop review here), the airport, and even booked my Gros Piton hike through them, which included transportation and a packed breakfast (see my full Gros Piton hike review here).
There’s also a spa on-site, which offers massages, wraps, and facials. I didn’t make use of the spa, but think it would have been a nice treat after my hike!
Pros & Cons
Pros:
Stunning Petit Piton and ocean views from most rooms
Walkable to Soufrière town incl. the Diamond Botanical Gardens & Mineral Baths
Easy taxi/tour booking via WhatsApp — staff was very responsive
On-site restaurant (Saltfish) with great food and views
Large, included breakfast
Friendly staff
Cons:
Taxis can get expensive without a rental car
No air conditioning in some rooms
Not the most accessible property as there are many, many stairs
Apparently very loud at night (though I didn’t have an issue with noise)
Final Verdict
Soufrière hotels are pretty expensive and it was hard for me to find a hotel that was nice, but not so nice that it felt like extreme honeymoon vibes. If you want a laid-back hotel with beautiful views at reasonable prices and the convenience of having great dining on-site, I think Green Fig Resort & Spa is one of the best hotels in Soufrière. I’d stay here again and use it as a home base before hiking Petit Piton!
